Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and passionate SENCO to join our team on a temporary basis for 6 months. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting a Thornbury based secondary school students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate interventions and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate the provision for students with special educational needs.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure they are regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support for students.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on SEN best practices and strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision and make necessary adjustments.
  • Liaise with parents and carers to ensure they are informed and involved in their child's education.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a SENCO in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of SEN legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and external agencies.
  • Commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
